45 thousand graduates will come to Russian medical institutions in 2023, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko announced on June 23, TASS reports. How many of them graduated from medical schools, and how many colleges, he did not specify.
The head of the Ministry of Health called medical education a priority area of state policy. According to him, the industry needs additional personnel, and in 2023, 52,000 applicants will be recruited at the expense of the budget to study at medical educational institutions.
In 2023, it is planned to accept 20,000 people to study at medical universities under residency programs, 14,000 of them under targeted agreements with the subject, previously reported the director of the Department of Medical Education and Personnel Policy in Healthcare of the Ministry of Health, Lyudmila Letnikova. According to the programs of the specialist, 33 thousand applicants will be enrolled for the first year in the universities subordinate to the Ministry of Health, of which more than 24 thousand will go to the target places. — by 13%.
According to Murashko, the shortage of doctors in Russia is about 25-26 thousand people, and about 50 thousand nurses. The provision of medical personnel in 2022 decreased by 1.3% – to 37.2 doctors per 10 thousand people year – 37.7). According to the Central Research Institute of Organization and Informatization of Healthcare of the Ministry of Health, last year 9.7 thousand doctors and 38.9 thousand nurses left medical institutions. A drop in the level of provision with medical personnel has been observed for two years in all federal districts.
